The Operations division of Standard Bank is at the very centre of the bank’s procedures, enabling and optimising our Corporate and Investment Banking activities. We develop prototype concepts into robust, reliable solutions, constantly evolving our existing product range to help the bank maintain a competitive lead with our global clients. We are also in demand as internal consultants to the business, helping to manage the Bank’s assets through effective risk management and control systems. As part of this role we now seek an experienced Team Leader, Treasury Products professional, who will help guide our work to fulfill our ambitious growth strategyPosition DescriptionJob Purpose
To support and assist Manager, Back Office by providing efficient and effective management of the people, systems and processes relating to Treasury Product and to deliver excellent customer service, minimize operational and settlement losses as well as ensure good correspondent relationships
KRAs
Ensure that all inward (Telegraphic Transfers) and outward (Domiciliary Account/ Invisible Payments Telegraphic Transfers) transactions are processed accurately, properly funded and records updated promptly.
Ensure that all transactions are processed within cut-off time with required documentation and exception reports raised to highlight outstanding issues which are executed and submitted timely.
Ensure customers are duly notified on issues relating to Inward/Outward Telegraphic Transfers and follow through to resolve outstanding issues.
Transaction Authorization on Swift, Equinox, Treasury Module, Trade Finance.
Communicate effectively with clients, RMs as well as Correspondent Banks on all issues affecting the operations of the Treasury Product unit.
Provide constant feedback to Manager Back Office on all operational matters within the treasury products unit.
Provide a consultant service to all units dealing in foreign exchange operations relating to the Treasury Product.
Maintaining a hands-on approach with respect to the activities of the units.
Ensure compliance to recommendations made in Routine Control Officers’ reports that relates to the treasury products units.
Introduce benchmark and best practices to promote risk awareness.
Ensure effective support is provided to maintain the ongoing workflow of the unit.
Adopt the use of and maintenance of checklists and action plans to cover all aspects of operations of the unit’s.
Initiate and drive to simplicity processes and procedures by recommending the best practices.
Highlight irregular practices and take corrective action whenever possible.
All other jobs to be assigned from time to time.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Minimum of a good University Degree
Possession of a degree in a numerate field and/or relevant professional qualification such as CDCS, ACA, ACCA, ACIB will be an added advantage
Minimum of 3 years experience in banking operations environment
Experience in Treasury Services/Treasury Operations/Foreign Operations will be an added advantage
Proficiency in the use of MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
Good Knowledge of Equinox Banking Application
General knowledge of the bank’s accounting practices, operations and IBC processes/products
